WingHaven Country Club was founded in 1999 with the front nine holes of the Nicklaus Design Championship golf course available for play in the fall of 1999. The back nine was completed in early spring for an April 1, 2000 grand opening of the club.
One of the games most decorated architects, Jack Nicklaus, was selected to design the golf course at WingHaven. The 18-hole Nicklaus Design golf course was quickly recognized by national and regional golf publications as one of the top course designs in the region. Most recently, Golfweek magazine recognized WingHaven Country Club as the top St. Louis area golf course in its "Places you can Play" ranking.

Initially, WingHaven Country Club opened as a semi-private country club, accommodating a limited number of non-member golf rounds. As of July 1, 2006, WingHaven Country Club is an exclusively private club.
